Citibank’s I Love to Read Project

I read in a news article written by Tina G. Santos and which appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer last July 2007, that Citibank is undertaking a community service program called I Love to Read. With this program, grade school students of particular schools (e.g. Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo) are encouraged to improve their reading and comprehension skills.

Competitiveness and Reading Go Together?

When I used to work in the corporate world, I would sometimes get reports about the most competitive local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines. A study would be done by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), if I remember correctly, and the study would include surveys regarding how constituents and businessmen view a particular LGU in terms of quality of life, systems in place, ease in doing business, among other factors.
